Fundamental responsibilities for Charge Nurse include planning, coordinating, and evaluating unit nursing activities.
The Charge Nurse is an experienced Registered Nurse who has displayed leadership, management and exceptional communication skills.
They are responsible for managing, supervising and assisting the nursing staff, as well as providing administrative support and patient care.
Regular duties include directing the admission, discharge and general flow of patients, and assigning nurses and support staff to patients.
While daily goals must be met, effective charge nurses are flexible and able to prioritize and adapt during emergencies.
Education:
Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
Experience:
At least two years of nursing experience in a hospital setting:
Must be able to follow directions and to perform according to department standards when no directions are given (self-motivated):
Ability to multi-task and work under stress of deadlines and time constraints.
License:
Current RN license with the State of Florida.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Clinical Skills, Customer Service Skills and Leadership Skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
High level of familiarity with hospital safety practices and procedures.
